During the past few weeks, the media has been riddled with reports of children dying.  Some discarded like yesterday’s trash, some hit by stray bullets and others murdered in cold blood in retaliation for God knows what. Whatever the crime, whatever the reason, where is the conscience? Where is the respect for human life? What has led these individuals to believe that their actions are the only answer, the only way out?  I am at a loss for words but I know we need prayers – prayers for peace, prayers for these little angelic souls, prayers for conversion!  Here’s a prayer I found which I pray often and wanted to share – please join me:

The Shepherd’s Servant

My Lord, my soul yearns for the Word and the truth it brings, but my heart sorrows for my brothers and sisters who cannot feel this passion.  Their worldly ways has taken their spirit and like a small child they need guidance and protection. As the Shepherd eyes his flock, so will I pray and give counsel to his creation.  Let my strength and endurance be steadfast and be seen as a shining light that helps lead the way back to goodness and make pure again your loved ones that have strayed. AMEN!

When the pressures, demands and disappoints of life get you down – remember you are not alone.  All you need to do is turn to Him.  I hope this prayer brings you the peace you seek!  God bless you.

Eternal, Holy God, I come to You burdened with worries, fears, doubts and troubles.  Calm and quiet me with peace of mind.  Empty me of the anxiety that disturbs me, of the concerns that weary my spirit, and weigh heavy on my heart.

Loosen my grip on disappointments and grievances I hold on to so tightly.  Release me from the pain of past hurts, of present anger and tension, of future fears.

Sometimes it’s too much for me Lord, too many demands and problems, too much sadness, suffering, and stress.  Renew me spiritually and emotionally.  Give me new strength, hope, and confidence.  Prepare me to meet the constant struggles of daily life with a deeper faith and trust in You.

Let Your love set me free, for peace, for joy, for grace, for life, for others, forever.  Amen!
